George Takei was so excited to do this shirtless episode. He spent all his free time doing push-ups for a week before they shot this.

they were going to give him a katana and have him be a samurai, but he didn’t want to be stereotypical, so he told the execs that he could fence and they wrote in references to the three musketeers instead

Not only that, but he found he liked fencing, kept it up, and became a master fencer.

When I had the privilege to hear him talk at AwesomeCon 2015, he informed us he is a master fencer. It was a very clear implication that he is still fencing at his advanced age. No wonder he’s so healthy.

At Target this lady told her son he couldn’t have a Wonder Woman doll because “that’s for girls” and then bought her daughter the same one. It got me thinking about how often I see people bar young boys from appreciating girls/women as protagonists and heroes, and my own experience with it as a kid.

  • the military itself is a treated like a priest class; the “laypeople” are expected to display the utmost respect for their pure existence.
  • indoctrination of children
  • displays of patriotism determines how “faithful” the individual is
  • presence of nationalism at different events (such as sports games, festivals, schools etc…) eerily resembles a theocracy
  • when someone chooses not to partake in a patriotic ritual, they are considered a heretic

the first point is so true across the board. ive had many liberals try to tell me this bullshit idea about how the constitution is an ideal that even the founding fathers couldnt live up to as an excuse for why they were all slave owning hypocrites and like nah the constitution is a document they wrote with specific intentions that included wanting to own slaves
